Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP), Natural healing therapy

February 24, 2018

Whereas doctors have used PRP therapy since the mid-1990s to aid bone healing after spinal injury and soft tissue recovery following plastic surgery, it has only been in the past two years that the treatment has caught on for treatment of sports-related injuries.

Now doctors are using platelet-rich plasma therapy or PRP injections for several reasons, from encouraging hair growth to promoting soft tissue-healing and skin rejuvenation.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

A small blood sample is taken from the person being treated and put into a centrifuge or other specialized device that spins at high speed. This process separates platelets from other blood components. The concentration of platelets is then injected into the area of the person's body that needs to be treated.

Because the injection contains a high concentration of platelets, which can be from 5 to 10 times more than the untreated blood, doctors believe that the platelets will speed up healing.

There are many PRP treatment benefits including for Pain, Injury & Arthritis. Also with its new therapeutic approach in regenerative medicine PRP is rapidly gaining steam in cosmetic therapy arena.

For many years Botox injections were the most popular treatment to defy the sings of aging and improve skin appearance. However, since PRP therapy is now available in many cosmetic clinics, Botox and fillers are slowly becoming a history...

The primary advantage of PRP over Botox is that treatment is virtually risk-free. Because PRP works with the patient's own healing processes and produces a natural effect, cosmetic PRP rejuvenation really delivers. PRP also circumvents all the visible side effects of Botox such as frozen face and eyelid.

To have a better understanding how PRP therapy works, I have organised a PRP demo at Be Cosmetic Clinic with Paul Cowen-Medical and Aesthetic Consultant

Paul Cowen explaining PRP therapy to Dr Hassan Nurein and his team

Dr Hassan Nurein, an expert in hair transplants, was certainly intrigued by the treatment.

Small injections into the scalp to prevent hair loss. Very short yet effective treatment.
